Naturing My Creativity

No, that is not a typo in the title; I meant to say Naturing.
Even though I chose to live in New England, I am NOT a winter person.

I would be happy if it was 70 degrees all year long. That is why when Spring hits, I am inspired and just want to go back to living in the woods. No electricity, no traffic, just nature.

Nature is something that fuels, drives, and speeds-up my creativity. I wish I could store my sleep up in the winter and stay awake all spring and summer long. I don't mind being woken up by the chirping birds and my neighbor's rooster.

Yesterday was what I call "Heightened Green." The trees, grass, and bushes were at this brilliant, new-spring green. I love it. As I am typing this a hummingbird landed on our feeder two feet from the window where I am sitting. A small sparrow like bird with white stripes on its head was hopping around the yard. I don't know what kind of bird it is. I will have to look it up. Maybe I will become a bird watcher. (Or is there an age limit on that hobby?) See what I mean? Nature is inspiring.

UPDATE: I just looked it up, and I think it was a White-Crowned Sparrow.

I'm a fellow New Englander. I grew up in Massachusetts and, despite living there well into adulthood, I never adjusted to those long, cold, dark, dreary winters. I'm now in Florida, and I complain when the temperature drops below 75. I hope you have a great spring and summer this year!

  2. Very nice photographs. I live in upstate NY and am rapidly tiring of winter.

I love New England! I was raised in CA, but my family is originally from NY and I found myself pulled to the east coast every chance I got - which was pretty frequent considering I made my living for in the travel industry for many years. Alas, I ended up living just about as far away from New England as I could get outside of leaving the country. But, living in Maui isn't such a bad deal either. Look forward to visiting again!
